Dark Matter · the series · through 2.2
Who is duplicated, where each copy is, and what happened to them. Amber means on screen this season.
| Version | Where | Status | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jason the fork, then the multiplication | |||
| Jason₁ | the 1970s world | On screen | The original. Kept Daniela, gave up the work. On the run with his family for a second season. |
| Jason₂ | world 1 | On screen | Built the box, took Jason₁'s life. Now being pursued by a federal agent after being identified by 'Hat Jason' after interrogation at a black site . |
| the rest | world 1 - in custody, or in the morgue | Scattered | Dozens, made one per door Jason₁ opened. Daniela shot one at her door in 2.1. Hat Jason is in custody, and identifies Jason₂ as the culprit behind this all. |
| Ryan | |||
| Ryan₁ | the 1970s world | On screen | Jason₁'s friend. Abducted for the compound, then stranded, not killed: Jason₂ shut the box door on him in 1.6. Found Amanda₂, perfected the drug, now hunting Jason₂ with her. |
| Ryan₂ | world 2, Velocity | Dead | Velocity's own, made the compound too. Removed by Leighton₂, killed by Velocity security, off screen. |
| the stand-in | world 1 | Unaccounted | An auto mechanic kidnapped from another world by Jason₂, purely so world 1 still had a Ryan Holder in it. Taken for his face, not his mind. Not seen since. |
| moustachio Ryan | Oluko's world | On screen | Local to that world. Recruited by the two Leightons in 2.2 to manufacture the compound at scale. |
| Leighton The council of Leightons | |||
| Leighton₁ | anywhere by now | Off screen | Trust fund, no lab. Sold Jason₂ his silence in exchange for money and box access, then left to tour the multiverse. |
| Leighton₂ | Oluko's world, visiting | On screen | Founded Velocity, built the box, went into it after Jason and came back injured. Walks with a cane. Now assembling other Leightons into a technology-trading network, and blames the Jasons for what happened to him. |
| Oluko (Leighton₃) | his own world | On screen | Meditation teacher, assistant Sandra. Asked to quiet Leighton₂'s mind for the corridor. Declines, then joins: by the end of 2.2 he is hosting Leighton₂ and the two of them recruit his world's Ryan together. |
| the fourth Leighton | the utopian world | On screen | Helps Ryan₁ and Amanda₂ perfect the compound. A separate man from Oluko: he is the one who tells Amanda about the trading network and names Oluko as a member of it. Refused Leighton₂ and is now working the other side, knowing the roster. |
| MacNamara new this season, doubled immediately | |||
| Agent MacNamara | with Jason₂ | On screen | Federal Agent (CIA?) Investigating the multitude of identical dead Jasons in World 1 |
| Mitchel₂ | the 1970s world | On screen | Local private investigator, hired by Jason₁ himself. Worked out there are two identical Dessen families in his city and found the box. Cannot follow: no compound. |
| The others | |||
| Amanda₂ | the 1970s world | On screen | Velocity's psychiatrist. Left the corridor by choice in season one, the only one who did. Now travelling with Ryan₁. |
| Amanda₁ | world 1 | Off screen | Psychiatrist, visited by Jason₂ in season one |
| Daniela and Charlie | the 1970s world | On screen | Charlie chose this world. Daniela is unravelling after shooting a Jason at the door. There is a second, native Dessen family already living there. |
The compound that makes the corridor survivable. Also written Lavender Wings. Everyone is either making it, stealing it or stuck without it.
A corridor of doors. Two exist now: the one in the utopian world stands in Chicago as public art, severed when it was moved, and a second one still works.
Jason₁'s original world and Velocity's. The season has largely left both behind.
Season one recaps call the auto mechanic Ryan₃; season two recaps use Ryan₃ for the moustachioed one. Different men. Past Ryan₂ the numbers are unusable. Some recaps also merge Oluko with the utopian world's Leighton. They are two people.
